Fairytale Corn Maze Crusade

Fairytale Corn Maze Crusade

Once upon a time, in a corn maze not too far away, the Fairytale Villains escaped Fairytale Land to take over a new land in Ontario. They took with them the only thing powerful enough to send them back: The Sword in the Stone.

This season at Buzzing Bees Adventure Farm, hidden within our 10 acre corn maze are 8 different villains, each with a unique puzzle to solve. If you can solve all 8 puzzles and find your way out of the maze, you can try your hand at removing the Sword from the Stone to wield it's power and send the villains back to Fairytale Land.

Along with our marquee corn maze and in-maze game, our farm includes a number of other family friendly activities like peddle karts, elastic band shooting range, toddler playground, slides, sandbox, field games and more. Our rabbits and chickens will also be out to visit. We have fresh popped kettle corn, and our own maple syrup, honey, jam and of course lots of pumpkins.

Cost is $9 per person with children under 2 years old free with an adult

Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays from September 13th until October 31st

Haunting of Hexwood

pumpkin

The Haunting of Hexwood Halloween event in Pickering will go ahead this year, but it will be a little different than originally planned.

Last month, the City of Pickering pulled the plug on the event planned at a film set.

They say it wouldn’t go forward because of significant health and safety concerns that stem from thousands of people going through a film set.

The event organizers then applied to hold an outdoor experience for the Haunting of Hexwood event instead.

On Friday, the city released a statement that says that the Pickering Fire Services conducted an extensive review of the revised, outdoor event plan, and its assessment indicates that the event plan’s safety measures ensure the health and well-being of all event attendees.

They are now granting permission for the Haunting of Hexwood experience to proceed.

The event kicks off on October 13 and runs until November 5.

CLASSIC MOVIE NIGHT - MY COUSIN VINNY

Spooky Scugog Guided Tours

Bill Gambini and Stanley Rothenstein are two friends from New York University who just received scholarships to UCLA. They decide to drive through the South. Once they arrive in Alabama, they stop at a local convenience store to pick up a few snacks. But, no sooner than they leave the store, they are arrested. They had thought that they were arrested for shoplifting, but they were arrested for murder and robbery. Worse, they are facing execution for this crime. Bill and Stan do not have enough money for a lawyer, so the good news is that Bill has a lawyer in his family, his cousin, Vincent Laguardia Gambini. The bad news is that Vinny is an inexperienced lawyer who has not been at a trial. So, Vinny has to defend his clients and battle an uncompromising judge, some tough locals, and even his fiancée, Mona Lisa Vito, who just does not know when to shut up, to prove his clients' innocence. But he will soon realize that he is going to need help. —John Wiggins

Halloween 2025 in Canada

Halloween 2025

Canadians celebrate Halloween on October 31 with costumes, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, and festive decorations. Rooted in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, it has grown into one of the country’s most popular annual celebrations.

When Is Halloween in Canada?

Halloween is a holiday observed in Canada and many other countries on October 31 each year.

Although it’s not a public holiday, it’s one of the most celebrated cultural events of the year, especially for families and children. On Halloween night, the streets throughout Canada come alive with costumes, lights, and groups of trick-or-treaters.

Remembrance Day 2025 in Canada

Remembrance Day 2025

Is Remembrance Day a Public Holiday?

Remembrance Day 2025 is a statutory holiday in 7 provinces and 3 territories and an observance in Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec.

What Happens on Remembrance Day?

Many people wear artificial poppies on their clothes in the weeks before Remembrance Day. Red poppies symbolize the memory of those who died and white poppies campaigns for non-military interventions in conflict situations. On November 11, special church services are organized. These often include the playing of "The Last Post", a reading of the fourth verse of the 'Ode of Remembrance' and two minutes silence at 11:00 (or 11am). After the service, wreaths are laid at local war memorials.

The official Canadian national ceremonies are held at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario, according to a strict protocol. A service is held and wreaths are laid by armed services representatives. In May 2000 the remains of a Canadian soldier who died in France in World War I, but was never been identified, were laid in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial.

Since then, members of the public have laid poppies, letters and photographs on the tomb. Similar services and events are held throughout Canada. Some schools that are open on Remembrance Day hold special assemblies, lessons and presentations on armed conflicts and those who died in them.
